I'm kind of a research geek and when I find something really great out there I feel I have to share it! Below are some of the finds that made my life easier and more comfortable.
This little camping light has near 5 stars on Amazon for a reason. It rocks! It put out enough light to fill my 14'x10' tent, and with the Red light only option (and two dimmer functions) it really is close to perfect. Upside, for those of you that need to pack extra juice but don't want to carry a big old battery pack, this thing will charge your cell phone and other USB devices. 2 x 2600MAh batteries should give most phones 1.5-2 full charges. Downside, and this is kind of a major one for Burners, you have to expose the innards of this thing to do any charging. I have a feeling on the Gen 3 model that will change as most people seem to complain about having to open this thing up to access the charging function, especially when there's a micro USB port on the side to charge the internal batteries! Leatherman is known for their products, so much so that any Multi-tool is invariably referred to as a Leatherman in casual conversation. I've used a number of them, and while I can't say which one is best for you and your adventures, I can say that out at Burning Man this particular model (and really any of their models with the Bit Attachment option) is super handy. I fixed a number of little things with it including my bike seat which had decided to loosen it's self to the point of falling off.
